Melissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Mayfield Counseling Centers
I have experience working with individuals dealing with past traumas, relationship issues, crisis, grief and working through other hardships of life. I work with adult women and children ages 4 through 11 years. I specialize in working with children who are struggling with emotional regulation, ADHD, anger issues, grief, divorce, depression and anxiety.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Person Centered, and play therapy. I leverage these modalities to assist individuals in overcoming adverse childhood experiences, providing resources and tools for those grappling with relational and emotional challenges hindering healthy connections. In my practice, I integrate various play modalities such as art, games, crafts, sand tray, and more to help both children and adults express their voice and work through emotional pain.
In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog, listening to music ranging from classical, country, faith related, and heavy metal. I enjoy crafts such as crocheting and dabbling in watercolors. I have been on various adventures such as white water rafting with my family, camping, snow tubing, and I enjoy going on fun rides like the Alpine coaster in Glenwood Springs. I am originally from Pennsylvania, went to college in small town in Georgia in which the college has 186-foot-high waterfalls called Toccoa Falls, and finally moving to Colorado Springs and making this my home.
