“Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate.” – Captain Jack Sparrow

“If you do not express your own original ideas, if you do not listen to your own being, you will have betrayed yourself.” -Rollo May

Everyone deserves to be their genuine self, a unique and wonderful personification of values and beliefs. Life becomes challenging when we want to be true to ourselves meanwhile respectfully managing difficult circumstances. Often, we set aside our values for the easement of the situation, which can leave us feeling insignificant. This negative self-image can cause anxiety, depression, anger, stress, confusion, and exhaustion. Life is not meant to be experienced from a questionable sense of self-worth. So, let me be the first to express that you do belong, and your values are important. I have been in those questionable and confusing places. I know it is difficult to devote attention to yourself, but it’s well deserved.

I take an existential approach to therapy because it explores past experiences just long enough to recognize the belief systems developed by past choices. The purpose is to create a higher self-awareness that can be applied to future aspirations with freedom and confidence. This process is helpful to adolescents, adults, couples, and families to restore their genuine selves back into their lifestyles. This process encourages people to address their emotional conflicts by accepting their contributions to the situation whereby regaining control of their life and ultimately changing their course.

Counseling is an interactive relationship where people regain confidence and respect for themselves. Its purpose is not to imply faults or insinuate someone is broken. I believe counseling is a place where you are accepted and a place where your values can lead to a satisfying life. Through our therapeutic relationship, I hope to meet your genuine self and see you enhance your life by freely expressing your beliefs and values.
