The Mayfield Counseling team values the contributions and sacrifices of military members and their families. Our staff includes several counselors who have served in the military or have been a military family member. Military service is rewarding and can also engender a number of familial stressors. Deployments and transition from active duty to civilian life are just two of the many stress-provoking events military families experience. Learning to live with the life-changing impacts of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder or a Traumatic Brain Injury can also cause conflict and tension. Transitions (PCS’ing or retiring) and separation of family members can also generate a significant amount of anxiety. Long-term effects of any of these can have debilitating impacts on our military families. Mayfield Counselors stand ready to support our troops and help them learn to cope with mental stressors associated with their contributions and sacrifices.
